"Walk On The Wild Side" Participants and Supporters

Walk on the Wild Side Walkers

California Wildlife Center wants to thank you for making our first annual 5K Walkathon a rousing success!  We were thrilled at the turnout (nearly 300), and your enthusiasm - combined with the beautiful weather - made for a perfect day on the beach.

Thanks to your generosity and energy in gathering donations from friends, family and coworkers, CWC raised much needed funds to help ensure our ability to continue providing crucial care for our wild patients through 'baby season'.

Pelican Release

The "textbook" release of a rehabilitated pelican by International Bird Rescue and Research Center (IBRRC) set the tone for our walk.  This pelican, brought in with a serious wing injury caused by monofilament fishing line, eagerly took flight as its crate was opened by long-time CWC supporter Pamela Anderson .  Click here for a short video of the release.

We hope to see you again at our annual fundraiser, The Wild Brunch, scheduled for August 16th.  This exciting event, set at one of Malibu's most elegant estates will feature silent and live auctions, great food, live music and more.  Watch CWC's website in the coming month for more information.

With sincere appreciation,

California Wildlife Center

California Wildlife Center (CWC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. The Center fulfills this responsibility by providing expert medical care and through community outreach and education. The Center is located on a three + acre parcel in the Santa Monica Mountains, generously provided by California State Parks.

Since its founding in 1998, CWC has provided care for more than 17,000 animals. Operating with a small staff, including a veterinarian and a team of 40 trained volunteers who log 13,000+ hours a year, CWC provides emergency care to native wildlife in Los Angeles County, 365 days a year. The Center does not receive government subsidies and must rely on donations to continue its mission.
